Change a life
Outbreaks of violence have been common in the Central African Republic since 2012, particularly after the Seleka armed opposition seized control of the country in March 2013. The cycle of instability and extreme poverty has created a disastrous humanitarian situation.
The political situation is particularly unstable, the military regularly seizes power, and all attempts to effect a democratic transition have failed.
In 2015, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) ranked the Central African Republic 187 out of 188 countries in its human development index. The country has 5 million inhabitants and life expectancy is approximately 50 years.
