In early October 2005, Hurricane Stan reached Central America. For several days, Guatemala was particularly affected. Even though there were few victims (134 in Guatemala and 228 in total), property damage was significant. Many houses built on hillsides, were destroyed, roads were washed away by the many landslides caused by torrential rains, flocks and crops were decimated. After the disaster, there were 38,000 victims including 16,400 displaced.

Atlas Logistics intervened in Guatemala from October 2005 to distribute aid to people affected by the disaster. On the 1st of July 2006, Atlas Logistics merged with Handicap International, and the mission to Guatemala continued until early 2008.
