Promoting the rights of people with disabilities

Handicap International launched an emergency mission in March 2011 to support refugees fleeing the violence in Ivory Coast.

We originally started to work in Liberia in late 1997, following an exploratory mission which brought to light a lack of orthopaedic care. The local authorities asked for our support, and we set up a rehabilitation centre in the JFK Hospital in Monrovia.

	The ‘Monrovia Rehabilitation Centre’ Handicap International has established a rehabilitation centre in the JFK Hospital of Monrovia for which we provide technical and financial support.
