Promoting the rights of people with disabilities

Handicap International has just launched a new project in Benin coordinated from Togo. Our projects focus on two main areas: the fight against filariasis and the promotion of the rights of people with disabilities.

Our projects

Fight against filariasis
This pilot project is being conducted in an area badly affected by filariasis - the Mono Couffo region, on the southern border of Togo. Activities include training community workers in detection, supporting the regional hospital perform surgery, and providing community case management.

Promoting the rights of people with disabilities
Activities include training disabled people’s organisations in awareness-raising and advocacy, creating and disseminating a directory of disability organisations, and supporting the Benin Federation of Disabled People’s Organisations (FEBAPH).
