Source is an international information support centre designed to improve the management, use and impact of information on health and disability.
Source is a collaborative venture with the Centre for International Child Health (CICH) a department within an academic institution, Healthlink Worldwide, a non-governmental organisation working to strengthen information and communication on health and disability, Handicap International and Exchange, a networking and learning programme which focuses on health communications for development. Source has been formed by a merger between CICH's and Healthlink Worldwide's resource centres.
The combined information support centre is designed to meet the information needs of individuals and organisations working in health, disability and development worldwide. These include health workers, researchers and students, non-governmental and governmental organisations, and disabled peoples’ organisations.
Source offers free online access to 25,000 comprehensive references (links to full text resources provided where possible) including bibliographic resources, websites, organisations, e-forums, journals and free or low-cost newsletters.
Source provides quick lists of key resources on specific topics, a bi-monthly email bulletin containing details of the most recently added resources, and a guide to setting up and managing a resource centre (Healthlink Worldwide Resource Centre Manual) for download.
Source's focus is on grassroots information from developing countries: subjects include disability and development, HIV/AIDS, evaluation, training, health communication, information management, primary health care and poverty.
