The current situation in the Middle East remains difficult. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict, war in Iraq, and tensions in Syria are aggravating an already weak regional economical situation. All economic sectors are affected, especially tourism, the main source of income of many countries in the region. And yet nothing short of a comprehensive solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict could bring long-term peace and deep change to the region.
Nonetheless, in all these countries, civil society is trying to face up by organizing itself through associations or civil movements. These initiatives need to be supported and developed.

BACKGROUND
Present in the region since 1987, Handicap International has run and supported many projects in the field of disability in Lebanon, Egypt and the Palestinian Territories.
