Why Handicap International

You are here: Support us / Corporate support / Why Handicap International

You cannot be blind or deaf to the landmines and disability issues. Each hour there is a new landmine victim who, if more fortunate than many, will loose a limb and will need prosthesis and rehabilitation. Landmines kill and injure civilians, who are not responsible for anything.

We urgently require donations and British partners to support our programmes in the fields: your support will make a real difference to our charity! We are looking to form partnerships with companies both small and large.

We are honest: Handicap International UK is a registered charity and as such you can freely access our financial reports. Handicap International European Network belongs to the French organisation “Give in confidence”

We have ethics in working with people in situations of disability and vulnerability. Our 20 years experience working in the field has enabled us to develop new methods to work with the local populations in developing countries.

In 1996, our organisation received the Nansen Prize, the highest prize given by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

We have an international recognition. As co-founder and member of the pilot committee of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, Handicap International was co-winner of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize.

Since 1999, the organisation also enjoys consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
